Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC 30.6-2.7.2007

Nanaimo Camping Weekend
I spent Canada Day long weekend in my most favorite city in Canada, Vancouver, BC. I went camping in a small city, Nanaimo on Vancouver Island with Manuel from Vancouver. We took ferry from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver.
Boarding the ferryWe decided to spent 1.40 hrs ride on the sun deck to get some tan :)
Manuel got fainted becus of the sun. hahaha... j/k. He just took a nap.
We missed the bus to Nanaimo downtown, so we decided to walk and catch another bus there.
But we eventually ended up walking all the way from the ferry to campsite. It was "only" about 8 km. with backpack. The campsite was quite packed. We brought our cooking supplies and went down to the river to cook and eat.
After the meal, we watched the sweet sunset here.

Next morning, it was Canada Day. We planned a hiking and beach trip to New Castle Island. We took a ferry from here where there was a celebration.
I got a maple leaf tattoo on my cheek. I was so Canadian today.
We wandered around a bit in the fair.
We took a small boat to New Castle Island.
We hiked around in a loop on the island.

This is our hiking map.

We stopped for lunch and sunbathing.

Canadian spirit
The beach was ok. We went swimming here. The weather was nice but the water was still cold.
We had BBQ dinner with a nice couple, Debby and Steward.
Sunset from our campsite
We left Nanaimo around noon on Monday.
Heading back to Vancouver. It was quite windy.
We ended the day at Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver. The view of the mountain and buildings in this pic is West Vancouver.
It was another nice trip I had in the most beautiful and best place on earth. As I said before, I am in love with Vancouver!
See you in my next trip, New York City!
