We did a crazy thing today which I can cross out from my to-do list, we swam in the Pacific Ocean. It was a windy and chilly day. People at the beach wore parka and wind breakers. But we...were...crazy...

This is the beach where we stayed and this very ocean that we swam.

The walk way to the beach from the campsite
Manuel started the day by going running along the beach while I started my day by saying good morning to him and going back to sleep.

Our breakfast

Ready to hit the road again.

Photo stop at a small town that is a big producer of oysters. I saw UPS truck at the oyster storage buidling and I told Manuel that they shipped the oysters by UPS but he didn't believe so.

Driving again. Next destination, Longbeach, WA

Long Beach is 1 mile north of the US highway 101 junction at Seaview on State Route 103.

Long Beach is a resort community with an abundance of travel accomodations and access to its namesake beach, which city fathers have proclaimed the "world's longest beach."

We left Long Beach after wandering along the beach on a windy day. Now we were crossing the most prominent landmark in the area, the graceful Astoria Bridge. Astoria is America's oldest West Coast city. It is situated on the Columbia River, the river that is second in size only to the Missisippi. Welcome to Oregon!

The Astoria Bridge is also known as the Astoria-Megler Bridge. It was built by Oregon and Washington states in the early 1960s to span the Columbia and join the two states. It's the world's largest continuous-truss bridge, overall lenght of 4.1 miles.

Lunch time!!! Fish and chips.

We had lunch at the water front.

View from the US navy museum. You can see the Astoria Bridge from here too.

We started driving along the gorgeous and picturesque west coast.

Photo stop. I believe I can fly....I believe I can touch the sky :p
