Jan 22nd-24th: Las Vegas, Nevada; Primm Valley, Nevada
After visiting Hoover Dam, we went straight to Las Vegas. We spent two nights here. I, again, fall in love with Vegas. This city never sleeps. we ate, shopped, went sighting here. I llllllllllllllllllllooovvveeeeee Vegas! I will go back to Vegas for sure! We stayed at Harrahs hotel in the heart of the city. It was very convenient for us to go out. I could only walk around for one block in 2 days. There r a lot of things to see and do. We went to the Venetian hotel and shopping arcade. It was so beautiful and extravagance inside. I felt like I was in Venice. Next time, i will ride the Gondola. Also we went to Caesar hotel. There is a lot of shops inside and no doubt it was beautiful and well-decorated.

USA Road trip: Laughlin, NV; Grand Canyon, AZ; Hoover Dam, AZ-NV

Jan 20th-21st, 2007 : Laughlin, Nevada; Grand Canyon, Arizona; Hoover Dam, Arizona and Nevada

We left Stockton on Saturday for Grand Canyon. We spent a night in Laughlin, Nevada, another city in Nevada. It was a good experience for me. We spent a night in our car cus there was no room in a hotel ;) Here, I played slot machine for the first time (Just for fun). On Sunday morning, we left early and drove to our destination, Grand Canyon. It was spectacular scene I ever saw. I'm so amazed of God's creation. It was cold up there and there was snow. Snow in Arizona!!! We spent a night in a small town, Williams. This town is located on a historic route, Route 66. Next morning we left for Hoover Dam. This Dam is a very important power source for LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas. There was a bomb threat here before. So They close some parts from public. If you visit this Dam, u will get to be in two time zones which is 1 hour different. The blue sign of Hoover Dam is in Arizona but once you cross the bridge, u will be in Nevada.

Hoover Dam is a testimony to a country's ability to construct monolithic projects in the midst of adverse conditions. Built during the Depression; thousands of men and their families came to Black Canyon to tame the Colorado River. It took less than five years, in a harsh and barren land, to build the largest dam of its time. Now, years later, Hoover Dam still stands as a world-renowned structure. The Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders.

The Grand Canyon is a very colorful, steep-sided gorge, carved by the Colorado River, in the U.S. state of Arizona. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of the Grand Canyon area, visiting on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
The canyon, created by the
Colorado River cutting a channel over millions of years, is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 0.25 to 15 miles 0.4 to 24 kilometers), and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km). Nearly two billion years of the Earth's history has been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut through layer after layer of sediment as the Colorado Plateaus have uplifted.

USA Road trip: San Francisco, California

This blog is quite out of date but I still feel like having these memories in my blog. It is my USA Road trip that I made in January 2007. After five months of hard work, I decided to take my first vacation. I was on tour meeting some relatives and friends in California, Nevada and Arizona. So it was good that I was away from the freezing cold winter in Canada.

Jan 18th-19th
I arrived in San Francisco on Jan 18th night. Granma Petch and her friend P' Kung picked me up at the airport. On Friday, P' Alisa showed me around San Francisco. I love San Francisco!!! So sad that I got only one day there. We went too see the Golden Gate Bridge, the Golden Gate Park, Palace of Fine Arts, Lombard Street (The crookedest street in the world), Fisherman's wharf and we drove to downtown. In the evening, I went to have dinner with Yai Kam and her husband. Aunt Gaysinee came to pick me up and we headed to Stockton.
